Immigration Voice: President's vision on immigration "in the right direction"
Immigration Voice (ImmigrationVoice.org - Home (http://www.ImmigrationVoice.org)) applauds the President’s recognition of our broken immigration system that allows for educating foreign nationals in the best universities this country has to offer and refrain from utilizing the investment made on them. The President’s call to reform in his State of the Union speech last night is an acknowledgement that has been decades in the making, he took it a step further by rightly calling out on policies that “makes no sense.” His vision and continued support on finding solutions to fix these problems is a step in the right direction.
America’s competitiveness and the initiative of keeping the jobs in the US, from being outsourced rests with the highly educated and skilled labor force within the country. The President’s vision of “let’s stop expelling talented, responsible young people who can staff our research labs, start new businesses, and further enrich this nation" is commendable. The highly educated foreign nationals are forced to seek employment elsewhere due to the long waiting periods in attaining green cards. Nearly a million people are stuck in the process and their prime creative years are submerged in the uncertainties of acquiring permanent residency in the country, and their entrepreneurial ventures are curtailed. The need for a bipartisan solution to reform the employment based green card systems that American employers use to recruit and retain the best and the brightest from around the world has become an immediate necessity.
As the President noted, “No workers - no workers are more productive than ours. No country has more successful companies or grants more patents to inventors and entrepreneurs. We're the home to the world's best colleges and universities, where more students come to study than any place on Earth.” Immigrants come to this country with the very dream the President described, to be a part of the great American workforce, working hard and giving their very best to the country. Aman Kapoor, Immigration Voice founder and president stated, “By tying the economic prosperity with innovation, President Obama has successfully merged the prosperity of our economy with fixing employment based immigration and the tremendous talents that is just waiting to be unleashed.”

Can I use it in my I-485 application at A# and in my Wife I-485 application?

A freind of mine had two years EAD and don't have H1 anymore. His drivers License was denied as EAD is not considered a valid document for drivers License extention.
This happened in Wayne , NJ.
I too will be going for the renewal soon. Did anyone else faced similar situtation. If yes, how did they resolve?
illinois somehow does not worry too much... i have never had trouble with mine or my wife's... she did not have license when she was on H4 right after 9/11 but they have changed that since then and even h4 folks have it... sorry to hear about your case... is it likely that someone in the dmv made a mistake?

Regarding your status in the country, assuming that you acquired the green card before you married, a green card divorce does not change anything with your immigration status, but it may delay your application for full citizenship. it sounds like PD is a MUST for approval but for actual processing order , as in backlog queue, it seems purely by luck :(

Some have the July 2nd receipt date but other have a later date especially if your case has been transferred from NSC to CSC and then back to NSC.:rolleyes:
yes I am :D and there are many July 2nd filers who have July 2nd as the receipt date and may not receive the EAD by Oct 1st. I may not either. I guess I am not that lucky here.

approved i140 only allows h1 extensions for self and h4 extn for spouse. spouse must independently qualify for h1 extension beyond 6 years -pl confirm with an immig attny

If I were you, I will pay additional $1,000 to USCIS for getting me out of GC mess.
I've applied for EAD/AP renewal for both myself and my wife. I spent $1,290 for this.
Say I got my GC approved and then I call USCIS and withdraw my pending EAD/AP application. Will I get a refund for pending EAD/AP application, if I get my GC approved before EAD/AP approval?

Hello,
I have a question regarding my employment & H1B.
I was working for company "A" and my project ended in Jan and the company "A" gave me 1 month to find employment.
So I have applied for H1B transfer last week with company "B"
I got a call today from company "A" offering me a job.
Is it possible for me to work with company "A", while my application for H1B transfer is pending?
I want to join company "B" when H1B transfer is approved but in the meantime can I work for company "A" because it is very hard to find a job in this economic situation
Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Just to state some examples: Several of members probably took CFA level II and III exams in June 2008 and the results were out today. These things further increase cohesion among the people as they share more ground than simply being an immigrant.

Good find - shows the plight of legal immigrants.
A bit of nitpicking - actually the chart is underestimating the time for EmploymentBased / skilled immigrants wait - says 11-16 years to get citizenship sort of suggesting 16 years is the worst case scenario to get citizenship. Its a bit underestimate especially for people coming from India/China. I have seen many people (including me) on these forums who entered US "legally" ten years ago and still waiting for GC with no idea when they would finally get it. Some of them might finally get citizenship 20 years after entering the country "legally".
On the whole it shows the reality of legal immigration and its waiting times.
Interesting one..but folks in washington will continue taking us for granted....unless we show them serious intent...
Hell, ALl they care abt is big corporations...even ahead of their own citizens...Wall St over Main St...
Bailout plan to be approved soon.......We areno where in the picture....even lawmakers know the realiy of this article...but its all about "show me the money"
